HINT: retrospective of this research group in "fashion in the internet" (SHOWstudio was settled 10 years ago when no YouTube, no camera phones, no reality TV existed... no fashion was in internet)

"The name `SHOWstudio´came from the inherent generosity of the verb `to show´, and the realisation that the `studio´was, for artist, image-makers, musicians, and designers alike, a common link. To not only juxtapose the words but fuse them seemed to sum up one of my fundamental desires in founding this website: to `show´the `studio´, to lay out the creative act from conception to completion. I firmly believe that to display the process of creation is beneficial for the artist, the audience and the art itself. The Internet - free from limitations of time and space - is perfect to showcase what I find the most interesting in the course of my work: everything."*

HINT: the treatment of surface, scale and use of graphics outside traditional media.

"The exhibition, curated by Joao Guarantani, concentrates on the possibilities of illustration outside its applied state, before it is appropriated by design and visual communication, and presents an exploration of the most expressive qualities of the medium in its raw state through site-specific installations"*

London Design Festival 2009 (LDF09)

What is it about London that is so special for creative people? Well, I really cannot talk about everyone but I will do it for me.

I spent two and a half years living in London when making my MA (master in arts) in Textile Futures at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, definitely one of the most influential experiences in my life. This city is a never ending font of stimuli: every corner is packed with people from almost every part of the world to feed creativity from diversity, the iconic designers, designs and artist of last 20 years are located there, there is something in the air that inspires and makes creative people to become addicted to London. As you can notice, I ❤ London. I try to make my visit one or twice a year to renew my ideas, meet with friends and (of course) to be connected with the state of the art in design from first hand and make my network bigger and bigger.

On the next post I will write about the most interesting designs, designers, artists and architects that I found for Textile Atmospheres.

Textile Atmospheres

Textile Atmospheres was born from a particular interest on textiles in relation with space. The aim is to build a coherent state of art, references around the configuration of spaces through textiles. Everything that explores them from its traditional, new and smart materials related with reactive, soft and affective domestic atmospheres.
